Air Duct Mold Removal in Houston, TX

Mold in Houston ductwork and what removal actually involves
Gulf humidity keeps vented attics damp for most of the year. Supply air runs cold through them. Flexible insulated duct sweats wherever the outer jacket is torn or the run sags into a puddle of its own condensation. Postwar ranch houses around Oak Forest and Meyerland often use slab-level return plenums, which pull fine clay-silt dust and damp air straight into the system.
The first question is material, not chemicals. Sheet-metal plenums and trunks can be HEPA-vacuumed, wiped, dried and resealed. Porous fiberglass inner liner cannot. Once growth is in that liner, brushing shreds it and releases more fiber. Fogging a biocide over it does little. That run gets replaced.
Growth is a moisture problem. Cleaning without fixing the water buys a few months. We look at torn liner, crushed flex, leaky boots at ceiling registers, a clogged filter starving airflow, and bare metal with no insulation. The evaporator coil and drain pan get checked too. A loaded coil re-seeds clean duct quickly.
You can check some of this yourself. Drop a register grille and look at the boot and the first few feet of liner. Gray staining on ceiling paint around a register usually means the boot is sweating.
